Job Descriptions

STUDENT ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT
The Student Accounting Assistant will assist the Business Manager in all areas related to Budget and Accounting. Applicants must have advance computer/software knowledge. The Student Accounting Assistant is expected to work 10-20 hrs/wk for fall and spring semesters and 20-40 hrs/wk for semester break and summer semester (note: students will be given an on-campus housing discount during semester break and summer session). Applicants should possess accurate math skills, efficient typing skills, and good customer service skills. The ideal candidate will pay close attention to details and can function independently after trained. Resident Assistants are strongly encouraged to apply.

HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT
The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for assisting the HR office in basic office duties including but not limited to greeting customers, answering the telephone, filing, covering office during lunch hours, typing, maintaining student employment files, etc. The HR Assistant also provides support to the Accounting Associate on personnel and payroll matters/duties. In addition, the HR Assistant carries out designated policies and procedures of DRL. All applicants should be prepared to work approximately 10 hours/week. Applicants must be registered UMCP undergraduate student. Clerical skills, MS Word, MS Excel and solid math skills are required.

OFFICE ASSISTANT: South Campus Community, North Campus Community
The North Campus Community Office Assistants are responsible for assisting the Program Management Specialist in basic office duties including, but not limited to typing, answering phones, filing, ordering supplies and provide office coverage during the lunch hour. NC Office Assistants should be able to work 10-20 hours per week and possess good administrative and organizational skills. The South Campus Office Assistants are responsible for assisting the community office in basic office duties including typing, answering phones, filing, scheduling of appointments and coverage of the office during lunch and other critical times. SC Office Assistants should be willing to work at least 10 hours a week and should possess good administrative, organizational and superlative customer service skills.

DIRECTOR’S OFFICE ASSISTANT
The Office Assistant for the Director’s Office is responsible for assisting the Executive Administrative Assistant in basic office duties including, but not limited to: receiving visitors, answering phones, typing correspondence, reports, forms, charts, etc.; copying, filing, sorting and distributing mail (twice daily), running errands, provide coverage during lunch hours. Office Assistant should be willing to work 10-20 hours/week. Applicant should be a current registered UMCP undergraduate student in good standing.

RIGHTS AND RESPONSBILITIES ASSISTANT
This position is required to support the Program Management Specialist in all functions within the office. Duties include maintaining student judicial records, database entry, answering phones, scheduling appointments and filing. The ideal applicant should be able to maintain confidentiality and carry out designated policies and procedures of the Department of Resident Life. Applicants should have working knowledge of MS Word and Excel. Knowledge of Access is desired but will train. Applicant must be a current registered UMCP undergraduate student in good standing.
