Graduate Assistantships in the Department of Resident Life
Thank you for your interest in graduate assistantships in the Department of Resident Life. The selection process for 2008-2009 graduate assistantships has been completed; however, we continue to collect resumes from interested candidates to keep on file, should a mid-year vacancy become available.

Graduate Administrative Coordinator Positions (Anticipated Opening)

The Graduate Administrative Coordinator (GAC) directs the administrative functions for one to three 24-hour residence hall/community service desk(s) which serve a residential community of approximately 1200-1600 students. The GAC schedules and supervises a staff of 15-45 undergraduate Community Assistants and one to three Customer Service Supervisors who issue keys, distribute mail and packages, provide information to residents, and initiate staff response to many emergency situations. The GAC assists with room assignments and other administrative tasks.
These positions are 30 hour per week, live-on positions with high student contact. Service desks support either traditional or apartment/suite style housing and are designed to meet the needs of undergraduate residential students.
Graduate Coordinator for Human Resources

The Graduate Coordinator (GC) provides significant leadership for the Graduate Assistant (GA) and Resident Assistant (RA) selection processes and provides administrative, organizational, and logistical support for the coordination of other search and selection processes within the department. The Graduate Coordinator also assists in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of staff training for all levels of DRL staff.
Graduate Coordinator for Rights & Responsibilities
The Graduate Coordinator provides procedural and administrative support for the Office of Rights and Responsibilities. Primarily, the position involves the coordination of Judicial Board Hearings, tracking of incidents throughout the residence hall system, and compilation and presentation of reports addressing student behavior in the residence halls.
Graduate Coordinator for Research & Assessment
The Graduate Coordinator works collaboratively with the Director for Research and Assessment in planning and implementing DRL research and assessment projects. Projects may include routine assessments of student satisfaction or special projects related to Department goals. The GC assists in each phase of research and assessment projects, including project management, data analysis, presentation of results, and report writing.
Graduate Coordinator for Recruitment Programs & Outreach

The Graduate Coordinator creates, implements, and evaluates departmental strategies designed to market on-campus living. The GC provides leadership support for the establishment of programs and initiatives to enhance the marketing efforts for the residence halls, and plays a key role in interviewing, supervising, and evaluating Program Assistants.
Graduate Coordinator for Academic Success & Math Success Program
(Anticipated Opening)
The Graduate Coordinator assists in the technical supervision, implementation, and evaluation of programs and interventions in the residence halls related to undergraduate Math and Academic Success programs. The GC provides leadership for the establishment of ongoing math support service programs and oversees academic achievement and recognition programs in the residence halls.
Graduate Coordinator for Resident Education & Leadership Programs
The Graduate Coordinator collaborates with other GAs and full-time staff to plan and implement centralized programs related to citizenship, scholarship, leadership and diversity. The GA assists in the planning and implementation of New Resident Orientation and advises the National Resident Hall Honorary (NRHH), UM chapter.
Graduate Assistant for South Hill
The Graduate Assistant for South Hill provides support to two to three full-time Resident Directors for a community of residence halls. The GA supports student and community development, provides administrative and managerial services, and coordinates staffing.
Graduate Assistant for South Campus Commons
The Graduate Assistant for South Campus Commons provides support to three full-time Resident Directors for a community of privately managed residence halls housing approximately 1800 students in apartments on South Campus. The GA supports student and community development, provides administrative and managerial support, and coordinates staffing.
Graduate Assistant for North Campus Administrative Operations.
Graduate Assistant for the National Housing Training Institute & South Campus
The Graduate Assistant for NHTI and South Campus assists in the coordination, implementation, and assessment of the annual NHTI, an intensive four day institute intended for housing professionals committed to advancement within the field of university/college housing. The GA assists with community development projects and initiatives for South Campus.
Graduate Assistant for North Campus Administrative Operations
The Graduate Assistant for North Campus Administrative Operations works with the Administrative Operations Unit to coordinate room reassignments, community service and other administrative processes on behalf of the North Campus. The GA works with the North Campus staff to plan and implement educational programs related to alcohol and safety.
Graduate Assistant for South Campus Administrative Operations
The Graduate Assistant for South Campus Administrative Operations works with the Administrative Operations Unit to coordinate and implement the following administrative functions: room reassignments, student billing, billing appeals, vacancy reports, mid-semester suite-apartment inspections, by-room verifications and other administrative tasks.
Graduate Assistant for Rights and Responsibilities, Cambridge Community
The Graduate Assistant for Rights and Responsibilities works with full-time staff in the Cambridge Community to coordinate judicial meetings with students, track incidents, and compile and present reports to address student behavior in the residence halls. The GA organizes and manages the online alcohol class and the Healthy Terps intervention program in coordination with the Health Center.
