A Community of Individuals

Denton Community boasts great diversity. With over 1,500 residents from all over Maryland and the world, each person in the Denton Community is an individual who offers unique gifts and perspectives to our Community, Maryland, and our world. You matter.

A Respectful Community

Denton Community is a community of citizens. As citizens we all have rights and responsibilities in relation to one another and our environment. It is important that we are familiar with, and value our roles in, this Community. Denton Community’s foundations are built upon respect, it is our fundamental guiding concept and practice. Respect matters.

A Community of Scholars

Denton Community exists to support the mission of education. The quest for knowledge does not end in the classroom. Out-of-class experiences often enhance academic learning and, in addition, offer rich alternative experiences. Learning matters.

A Safe Community

Denton Community is a safe neighborhood. Safety is our number one priority, but can only be achieved through a partnership between Community staff and residents. Each of us need to take responsibility for locking our doors, confronting tailgaters, and looking out for the safety of not only ourselves, but also others in our community. Safety matters.

A Community of Leaders

Denton Community consists of many different kinds of leaders. Leaders come in a variety of forms. Leaders are residents who are on Hall Council, who get groups of floor mates to go to meals together, and who offer their strength and care to another resident in a time of need. Leaders matter.

Denton Community has many special qualities. Living in Denton Community means being proud of our talented residents, dedicated staff, cultural richness, special programs, excellent dining hall, active building governments, beautiful surroundings, and peaceful location. Pride matters.

A Community You Can Call Home

Denton Community is your home. You need to be able to be comfortable being yourself, comfortable studying, comfortable sleeping, comfortable socializing, and basically comfortable living. If anything impedes your comfort in calling Denton Community your home, please let a staff member know immediately. Home matters.
