Career Exploration Field Trips

I just wanted to thank you for organizing the trip to the National Institutes of Health. I really did learn a lot and I absolutely cannot wait to pursue research experiences (hopefully at NIH!). Even though I am still unclear about my future, talking to the panel of members made me realize that it is fine to not know and that I will probably change my mind somewhere along the way. I look forward to future possibilities that Syn*Quest may have and hope to participate in other opportunities next year when I am in Elkton.

Common Ground

The Syn*Quest event I attended was about individual identity. I feel it was very beneficial to learn about other's identities in a more in depth fashion. I learned about people on a higher level than people usually do and it was nice. Everyone trusted each other and felt comfortable speaking.

Collaborative Study Groups

I am glad I attended the Collaborative Study Group session. I think it helped me understand some topics and reinforced the ideas I already knew. Also, the group was small enough to answer everyone's questions but big enough to be a study group where we could work off of one another. Also, I was able to meet peers from the course that I would have not had the chance to know because of the size of the lecture. After the test Friday, I felt confident in my performance on the test. The extra time spent in the group was helpful, and I received a B+ on the test.

Courses

UNIV 100 is a very important class because it teaches you skills that every college student should know. It teaches you how to communicate with others, stay healthy in college, search for job opportunities, find different things on campus, and debate about an issue. I enjoyed this UNIV 100 course and suggest that everyone take it throughout their college career.

The UNIV 100 class has compelled me to explore the University of Maryland's resources as well as interact with many new people. The class was a great tool that has aided my first semester and will undoubtedly aid my time at Maryland by making me aware of the plentiful opportunities available for exploration.

This class provided me with all the tools and inside tips that I need during this time of transition and transformation. I would honestly recommend this course to all freshmen. It really helps the new people feel like they're a part of something in such a large and overwhelming university.

This course opened my eyes to why I chose Maryland, what Maryland can do for me, and how I can get involved. It was an opportunity to gain useful information but also engage with fellow students in similar situations.

I will really miss this class. I'm going to miss the atmosphere, the icebreakers, the classmates, the discussions, the arguments, the laughs, the wows, the teachers, the joy, and the knowledge. This class will be like no other class I will ever have in college. I have learned a lot, but I have also had a lot of fun along the way. I consider all 24 other classmates to be my friends. I don't know what it is, but I feel like we all share a special bond that can't be broken. This class has been informative and fun at the same time which is so rare. I commend all three teachers for giving me a truly unique experience. I will be able to use the knowledge I have gained in real life situations and not just my career.

University Career Center Workshops

I went to a talk about the President's Promise. I learned about many of the intern and externships that I have access to if I use the proper resources. This event showed me just how many opportunities that this campus had to offer and how they can help me advance into the real world after college.
