Collaborative Study Groups
Students will have the opportunity to study collaboratively through a semi-structured learning environment that expands students' understanding of core and pre-requisite courses. Collaborative study groups are out-of-class review sessions that focus on engaging students to share in the learning process for particularly challenging courses. Rather than solely serving as a tutoring or review group, the focus of these peer-assisted study groups is to gain a deeper understanding of course material and expand upon study skills.
These types of study groups are offered at hundreds of institutions across the globe, and national data has shown that students who attend these groups statistically earn better final grades. Research shows that students who regularly attend these groups average one half to one full letter grade higher than their classmates who choose not to attend.

Dates coming soon.
All hours are without reservation. Math Success can also be used as a meeting place for your math study group - it always helps to have a Math Coach nearby. Math Success continues to support students who are challenged by mathematics. While Math Coaches are able to work with any math student, those who tend to seek help the most frequently are students in Calculus courses such as MATH 140, 141, 220 and 221, as well as statistics courses. Math Success will remain committed to building confidence and independent learning skills in math for all students, thus promoting their overall academic success at the University of Maryland.
In partnership with the Counseling Center, we also offer Guided Study Sessions (GSS). GSS Program offers FREE, regularly scheduled study sessions for traditionally difficult courses. Based on the Supplemental Instruction model (SI), weekly 50-minute sessions are held using a collaborative learning process. Attend once or attend every session, The choice is up to you, but our data suggests that the more you attend, the higher your final grade will be in the course!
