U.S. Capitol
February 15
The Capitol is meeting place of the House of Representatives and the Senate of the United States. Steeped in hundreds of years of history and the epicenter of the Legislative branch of the Federal government, understanding the Capitol is to gain a better appreciation for Washington, D.C., and the role of each of the branches of the government. Students will take a guided tour, visit the new Visitor’s Center, and explore the grounds of Capitol Hill.
Campus Ice Creamery

Made on campus using only the freshest and best ingredients, the University of Maryland’s own ice cream is renowned for both its quality and taste. The Department of Dining Services is responsible for both making the ice cream as well as coming up with new flavors. Students will visit the on-campus ice-cream-making facility and discuss the process by which new flavors come to fruition.
NASA
April 19
A short distance from campus, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center is a research laboratory and education center dedicated to developing spaceflight technologies and is also one of the largest employers in area. Goddard manages such current projects as the Hubble Space Telescope. Students will receive a guided tour from NASA staff, discuss career options at NASA both related to technical and non-technical majors, and explore the different testing facilities.
