So you want to be a Math Coach?

We are always actively seeking coaches for the Math Success Program!

Requirements:

All applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered:

  • Have an overall GPA of 3.0
  • Have taken & be able to tutor 140/141 or 220/221 or equivalent
  • Have taken & be able to tutor an additional course such as 240, 241, 246, Statistics, etc.
  • Have received no lower than a B in the Math courses you will tutor

About the position:

Math coaches assist students with their difficulties in mathematics. We assist with, not do, students' course work.  Coaches work at least two shifts a week. Each shift is 6-9pm. Starting pay is $10/hr with a $0.20 increase per semester worked.

Being a math coach is about more than what you can do for others. Here are some of the goals and objectives that we provide for each of our coaches.

  • Coaches gain valuable teaching experience.
  • Coaches interact with diverse populations.
  • Coaches gain exceptional experience in working wtih others, problem solving solutions.
  • Coaches discover multiple ways to "attack" problems.
  • Coaches gain mastery of math in several dimensions.
