The regular annual leasing process takes place in February/March of each year. All SCC/CTY residents will be notifed by email how to renew their leases. Be sure to complete the online “Intent to Return” form by the announced deadline (usually in February).

To be eligible for SCC/CTY, prospective residents must be living in on-campus housing. If you live off campus for the spring, it is unlikely you will be elibible to lease.

As you are currently away from campus, you’ll need a proxy. Students with family living in the local area will often choose a parent as a proxy. If your family is out of state, you may want to select a fellow student. Just be sure to select carefully as you will have to abide by the decisions made by your proxy. Once you have selected a proxy, submit an online proxy form at least 2 business days prior to when you wish to sign a lease. When your proxy signs your lease, he/she will need your notorized Guarantee of Lease (completed by a person willing to be financially responsible for you like a parent), a $300 check/money order and a $25 check/money order. This can be difficult to organize while you are away so allow plenty of time to send emails back and forth between you and your proxy. If you have access to the internet while abroad, sign up for SCC’s listserv (www.southcampuscommons.com on the right hand side of the screen). You’ll get emails about all the major leasing deadlines.

In mid-February, complete your online “Intent to Return” form which can be found at www.southcampuscommons.com or www.umdcourtyards.com. There will be a deadline posted in late January so check the website!
