Eligibility and priority for leasing space in The Courtyards and South Campus Commons is assigned according to Resident Life's and the Residence Halls Association’s (RHA) Housing Commitments policy. It is important that you understand the Housing Commitment Groups identified in this policy.

Based on current projections for Fall 2009, residence hall students in the 3rd Commitment Group (i.e. rising third-year students) will once again have the highest priority for leasing spaces at The Courtyards and South Campus Commons. If spaces remain after all interested residence hall students in the 3rd Commitment Group have had an opportunity to lease, resident students in the 5th Commitment Group (i.e. rising fourth-year students) and then the 2nd Commitment Group (i.e. rising second-year students) may have an opportunity to lease an apartment for the 2009-10 lease year and are encouraged to submit a lease application. Interested resident students in the 3rd, 5th and 2nd Commitment Groups must submit leasing applications by the February 19th deadline.

In addition to living in residence halls during Spring 2009 and otherwise meeting the Housing Commitments criteria, applicants to The Courtyards and South Campus Commons must: a) have proper academic, registration, judicial, and financial standing for the Spring 2009 semester, b) be full-time, undergraduate students at the University of Maryland for the full 2009-10 academic year, and c) meet application deadlines for South Campus Commons, The Courtyards, and if applicable, Hinman CEOs and the Beyond the Classroom Living/Learning programs. Please note that any "pull-ins" must meet these same eligibility requirements. Please read more about “pull-ins” in the Frequently Asked Questions, #s 7-10.
