South Campus residence halls will remain open during Thanksgiving Break. You do not need to turn in keys or sign up for Thanksgiving Break Housing.
Residents may stay in the same room all or any part of the break at no extra cost (no forms or paperwork must be completed).
Before you leave, please complete this checklist:
- Take with you all valuables, computers, books, money, medications, passport, clothing, etc. you might need during the break.
- Close and lock all windows. Close blinds or shade if you live on a lower floor. This could keep outside air from freezing pipes inside your unit when you are not there. Frozen pipes, when they thaw, can crack and leak, causing flooding.
- Remove all perishables and unprotected foods that roaches or other pests could get. If you have a kitchen, run and rinse the garbage disposal. Wash all soiled eating utensils.
- Take all trash and recycling to the appropriate outside containers.
- Leave your closet doors open. This will keep a "musty" smell from getting into your clothing.
- Move your personal property off the floor. This could avoid loss or damage if there is a water leak, flood or seepage.
- Unplug all electrical appliances, chargers, clocks, lights, etc.
- Take your keys with you! Remember to bring them back with you when you return.
- Take bicycles home or secure them in your room (no motorized scooters or bikes allowed in the residence halls)
- Turn off all lights.
- Lock all doors, including your bedroom door.
