This marks the 13th Annual From Our Heart To Yours (FOHTY) Holiday Project
Please help us reach our goal of filling over 2,000 gift bags this year!
Resident Life and the Panhellenic Association are again teaming up with College Park’s Youth and Family Services to fill gift bags for children in the College Park area. This project involves students, staff and faculty who agree to fill a gift bag with small items that children need to make their holiday season a little brighter. Each bag will be labeled with the age and gender for the intended child along with either drop off your bag at any residence hall service desk or call (301) 314-7350 for pick-up.
If you are interested in filling a bag, please see your RA or stop by any Residence Hall Service Desk to sign up today or sign up to submit an on-line Gift donation. You can also contact FOHTY by email at fohty@umd.edu or call (301) 314-7350.
Important Dates
-
Sign up to fill a gift bag now through November 12,
2009.
-
You will receive an empty gift bag by November 16, 2009.

Things to Remember When Filling Your Bag
- Please mark out all pre-written prices and remove all attached price tags.
- Please do not remove the age and gender identification tag from the outside of your gift bag. It will assist the agency in the accurate distribution of your gift.
- Please do not include any violent, dangerous, or sexually explicit items in your bag.
- Please do not include any gifts that would need any additional parts from home; for example, do not include cassette tapes because the family may not have a tape player at home. If you buy a toy that needs batteries, please include them.
- Please do not wrap gift.
- Please do not donate edible food items; this also includes candy, baby food, etc.

History of FOHTY
In 1997 the North Campus Resident Life staff embarked on this community service activity designed to allow our students, and staff the opportunity to make a childs winter holiday brighter. This endeavor has been expanded to now include PanHellenic Association and the broader University of Maryland Community. The generousity of our campus community is unbelievable. Over the last 12 years we have provided over 12,000 gifts to children in the College Park area. We collaborate with College Park Youth and Family Services to distribute the gifts to the children in the area.
